Electrical Outlet Safety
Do you remember the scene from the movie “A Christmas Story” that showed the rats nest of cords for the tree lights? Wall plugs aren’t meant to be overloaded. That’s why the fuse blew in the movie house when one more thing was plugged into the mess. Modern wall outlets are typically rated for 15 amps. When you plug more items into an outlet where the power they use can exceed that rating it could cause a breaker to trip or worse. Always check the power ratings of items you plan on plugging into the wall to make sure you don’t exceed the receptacle’s rating.
